GMass offers subscribers a standalone SMTP service<\/span><\/a> to send your <\/strong><\/span>transactional emails<\/a><\/strong> through your Gmail account<\/strong>. (Transactional emails are the essential, non-promotional business emails you send like receipts and password resets.)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, we\u2019re going to cover the steps to <\/span>use the GMass SMTP service to send transactional emails from WordPress and\/or WooCommerce<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: The GMass SMTP service is <\/span><\/i>different<\/i><\/b> from the <\/span><\/i>GMass Chrome extension<\/span><\/i><\/a> you use to send your personalized mass emails. It\u2019s also different from the <\/span><\/i>SMTP integration<\/span><\/i><\/a> you can use to break Gmail\u2019s limits and send virtually unlimited emails with GMass. This is a completely separate product: A <\/span><\/i>standalone SMTP service you\u2019ll use for transactional emails<\/i><\/b>.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We created the GMass SMTP relay for people who want to send transactional emails from their website or app through their Gmail account.<\/span><\/p>\n

That way, you\u2019ll have a record of your transactional emails in your Gmail Sent folder (which you can easily search \u2014 and from which you can build new, targeted mailing lists, as we\u2019ll cover later).<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the most common applications for the GMass SMTP service is to let it <\/span>take over your WordPress transactional emails<\/b> \u2014 since by default, those are sent through your own web server via the notoriously shaky wp_mail() function.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why You Should Use a Third-Party SMTP with WordPress<\/h2>\n

Your WordPress account needs to send various transactional emails after a variety of user actions: New user registrations, password resets and such.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re running WooCommerce, there are even more transactional emails involved, like order confirmations, payment failures or shipping notifications.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To send those emails, <\/span>WordPress uses its built-in wp_mail() function<\/b>, a PHP function that uses PHP\u2019s core mail() function to send emails through your web server.<\/span><\/p>\n

But your web server isn\u2019t a mail server. And both wp_mail() and mail() are minefields. <\/span>There are <\/b>lots<\/i><\/b> of things that can go wrong<\/b>:<\/span><\/p>\n
