BatLinks.io<\/a>\u00a0is a\u00a0white hat link building agency<\/b>\u00a0based out of Estonia (but with a team now distributed all over the world.)<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve been in business since 2015, building thousands of high-quality backlinks for clients in a wide variety of different industries. The team has expanded to 12 full-time employees working all over the world.<\/p>\n

They started out using a variety of link building outreach<\/a> strategies but have\u00a0now settled almost exclusively into cold email<\/b>\u00a0\u2014 as they\u2019ve found cold email is the best method to earn links and provide value to their clients.<\/p>\n

The Problems: Email Deliverability and Campaign Reporting<\/h2>\n

Gert Kulla, the founder of BatLinks, and his team rely on cold email outreach to build backlinks<\/a> for their clients. But as they got deeper into cold email, they started bumping up against two problems<\/b>\u00a0costing them time and money.<\/p>\n

The first problem, Gert says: \u201cOur\u00a0deliverability numbers<\/b>\u00a0weren\u2019t always what we wanted them to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

And when they tried to remedy their deliverability, they weren\u2019t getting much help from the various cold email platforms they used. \u201c[They] really didn\u2019t do much to help with this,\u201d Gert says, \u201cBesides sharing a few articles they had written with common, generic advice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The second problem was\u00a0tracking the results of their cold email campaigns<\/b>.<\/p>\n

\u201cKeeping track of the status of each individual prospect took a lot of time,\u201d Gert says, \u201cSo we were looking for a solution to somehow see which emails were opened, replied to, bounced, and unsubscribed. Our team had to go back and forth between our Google Sheets database and the email outreach tool to figure this out.\u201d<\/p>\n

These two problems were significant. The deliverability issues were hurting the effectiveness of the agency\u2019s campaigns. The manual work to connect email results to leads was wasting a ton of time. And both problems were\u00a0costing the agency money<\/b>.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0custom tracking domains<\/b><\/a>, you\u00a0set up your own domain to handle open and click tracking in your emails<\/b>. That makes it so you\u2019re not using the standard shared domain \u2014 where other people\u2019s reputations might affect your deliverability.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe weren\u2019t even aware of this particular option before,\u201d Gert says, \u201c[But] this further improves our email deliverability.\u201d<\/p>\n

A\/B testing<\/h4>\n

The BatLinks team uses GMass\u2019s\u00a0easy A\/B testing<\/a>\u00a0feature to\u00a0try different subject lines for their campaigns<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Updating Google Sheets with data<\/h4>\n
