With this feature, you can now adjust some key sending settings on a domain-by-domain and\/or service-by-service basis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n That can fix deliverability issues caused by two of the biggest culprits: third-party SMTP servers and open\/click tracking.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s how it works.<\/p>\n Want to skip straight to the instructions? Click here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n Approximate setup time required:<\/strong> 0-5 minutes<\/em><\/p>\n Approximate GMass skill level:<\/strong> Beginner<\/em><\/p>\n Delivery routes are a quick way to fix deliverability issues with a specific domain or service without having to completely change your campaigns\u2019 sending and tracking methods<\/strong>\u00a0in ways you might not want.<\/p>\n For example, let\u2019s say you always send out a newsletter using your third-party SMTP server. And that mostly<\/em>\u00a0works great, except that you\u2019re having deliverability issues with yahoo.com addresses.<\/p>\n Before, that would\u2019ve required a compromise:<\/p>\n Neither of those is ideal.<\/p>\n Now, rather than having to compromise, you can get the best of both worlds with a few clicks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n You can continue to send your campaign to virtually all recipients through your SMTP server, but route all emails to yahoo.com addresses through Gmail.<\/p>\n As for turning off open and click tracking, you may also run into a situation where a tracking domain<\/a>\u00a0is giving you issues \u2014 or, even more extreme, where an email provider is flagging any<\/em>\u00a0tracked emails<\/strong>.<\/p>\n One example: Mimecast is a super-aggressive email security service provider that will often block any emails with open and click tracking. You could set up a delivery route so your recipients on Mimecast will have open and click tracking turned off.<\/p>\n Delivery routes are an account-level setting<\/strong>, not one you set for each campaign individually.<\/p>\n That\u2019s because delivery issues to a specific domain or service aren\u2019t compartmentalized<\/strong>; if they\u2019re happening on one campaign, they\u2019re probably happening elsewhere too. There\u2019s something<\/em> about you, your SMTP server, and\/or your tracking that\u2019s causing problems a recipient’s email provider or filters.<\/p>\n As an account-level setting, you\u2019ll take care of delivery routes in the GMass dashboard<\/a>\u00a0(not the settings<\/a>\u00a0for an individual campaign).<\/p>\n Open your GMass dashboard<\/a>\u00a0and click on the gear icon in the top right to open the Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Find the Sending<\/strong> heading on the left fly-out menu and click it to open the options.<\/p>\n Then click Manage Delivery Routes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n To add a delivery route for a specific domain, type the domain name into the input box.<\/p>\n For instance, let\u2019s say you\u2019ve determined that hotmail.com, msn.com, and live.com have blocked your SendGrid account. That means you\u2019ll always want to send messages to those domains through Gmail\u2019s native servers, not\u00a0the third-party SendGrid SMTP server you\u2019ve added<\/a>\u00a0through your GMass account.<\/p>\n You can type each of those, one-by-one, into the box. Choose the Use Gmail\u00a0option, then click Add this route<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Note: If you do not have a third-party SMTP service set up with GMass, you won’t be able to select the “Use SMTP” option.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n (Or you could just set Microsoft-specific settings like this…)<\/p>\n You can also add delivery routes for entire email services<\/strong>. GMass will then do an MX lookup on every recipient to see if they’re using that service and, if so, we’ll send to that recipient using your specified delivery route.<\/p>\n We’re adding more services all the time; if you have a suggestion for an email provider, security filter, or other service we should add, please let us know via the GMass support form<\/a>.<\/p>\n The domain-specific route<\/strong> always takes precedence.<\/p>\n And that\u00a0does<\/em> introduce one specific scenario that might come up for you.<\/p>\n Let’s say, for example, you have a service-specific route for Microsoft. But you want hotmail.com emails to just go out normally and not follow that service-specific route.<\/p>\n In that case, you can\u00a0override the service-specific route<\/strong> by adding hotmail.com as a domain-specific route and leaving all its toggles off.<\/p>\n Now, your sends to hotmail.com will go out normally and all other sends to Microsoft recipients (like those on outlook.com or msn.com) will follow the Microsoft delivery route.<\/p>\n When you’re adding delivery routes, you can decide whether to disable open tracking and\/or disable click tracking for those domains and services.<\/p>\n If you disable those options for a domain or service, GMass will override the open\/click tracking settings on your campaigns when you send to users at those domains\/services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Also, you can set up a delivery route that just disables opens\/clicks<\/strong> without specifying whether it should always go through Gmail’s servers or your SMTP.<\/p>\n You can change the settings for one of your routes by toggling the sliders<\/strong>\u00a0next to the campaign.<\/p>\n GMass will automatically save<\/strong>\u00a0the update to your route.<\/p>\n You can also remove routes one at a time or en masse by checking the box next to a route, then clicking the Remove these routes<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/p>\n Once you\u2019re done, you can exit the dashboard and your new routes will apply to all the campaigns you send<\/strong>.<\/p>\n You can manage your existing routes by returning to these settings in the GMass dashboard in the future<\/strong>.<\/p>\n We\u2019re just a little<\/em>\u00a0obsessive about deliverability at GMass.<\/p>\n (You should see our deliverability Slack channel. It\u2019s always popping off in there. Meanwhile, no one\u2019s tossed up anything in the \u201coff topic chat\u201d channel since I put up a picture of my kids on Halloween. All gas, no brakes over here.)<\/p>\n And that\u2019s why we\u2019re always so happy when users report amazing deliverability.
