You initiate and send that campaign, it goes out that day, and no holidays get in the way.<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>not every campaign is quite so neatly contained<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when skipping holidays (and skipping other days, like perhaps weekends) comes into play.<\/p>\n<p>For example, you might want to use the Skip Holidays feature when\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have a large campaign (or a campaign that uses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/set-end-time\/\">end times<\/a> for a tight window) that\u2019s <strong>spread across multiple days<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>You run a campaign with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/features\/auto-follow-up-gmail\">auto follow-ups<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019re running a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/recurring-automated-email-campaigns-gmail-sheets\/\">recurring campaign<\/a><\/strong>, say to every new contact you add to your Google Sheet.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019re <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/mail-merge-feature-throttle-your-email-campaign\/\">throttling<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0your campaign to spread it out across several days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other words: There are lots of different scenarios where you could be sending emails across several days \u2014 and\/or when automations are running at various cadences.<\/p>\n<p>In those situations, <strong id=\"how-to-set-up-holida-rwsk\">it\u2019s entirely possible you could have emails go out on major holidays<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 when your recipients aren\u2019t at their computers or looking to do business.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when it\u2019s good to have some defined holidays in place.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Set Up Holidays in the GMass Dashboard<\/h2>\n<p>We aren\u2019t going to tell you which holidays you should skip.<\/p>\n<p>After all, holidays are different all over the world; you know where your prospects are and when they\u2019re likely to be off work and celebrating.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why you\u2019ll need to <strong>define<\/strong>\u00a0which holidays you want GMass to skip.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your list of holidays to skip is established at the account level<\/strong>, meaning you define your holidays in one central place. You can then <strong>select whether to skip those designated holidays on a campaign-by-campaign basis<\/strong>. (I\u2019ll show you how to do that in the campaign settings later in this article.)<\/p>\n<p>Also, note that the holidays are based on <strong>your time zone<\/strong>. So if you\u2019re in the Central time zone, Christmas runs from 12:00 A.M. Central through 11:59 P.M. Central on December 25th.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"setting-up-holidays-dfni\">Setting up holidays in the GMass dashboard<\/h3>\n<p>Now it\u2019s time to set up some holidays.<\/p>\n<p>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/app.gmass.co\/dashboard\/index\">GMass dashboard<\/a>, then click the <strong>Settings<\/strong>\u00a0icon (it\u2019s the gear symbol) in the top right.<\/p>\n<p>On the left flyout panel, click into the <strong>Sending<\/strong>\u00a0section. There you\u2019ll see a link to <strong>Manage Holidays<\/strong>. Click on that link.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image1-5.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image1-5.png\" alt=\"Select Manage Holidays in the GMass dashboard\" width=\"1804\" height=\"1220\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>You\u2019ll see a few common US federal holidays we\u2019ve automatically added to the <strong>Standard Holidays<\/strong>\u00a0section.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image7-3.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image7-3.png\" alt=\"The standard holidays default to observed\" width=\"1999\" height=\"1878\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<h3 id=\"marking-a-holiday-as-fiiy\">Marking a holiday as observed<\/h3>\n<p>As you can see, the toggle switch next to each of the holidays, under the <strong>Observed<\/strong>\u00a0heading, is in the \u201con\u201d position.<\/p>\n<p>That means GMass <strong>will<\/strong>\u00a0skip that holiday on your sending schedule, since it\u2019s marked as observed.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image3-5.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image3-5.png\" alt=\"Toggle the switch to turn a holiday off\" width=\"1999\" height=\"1201\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Toggle the switch next to a holiday to mark it not \u201cObserved\u201d \u2014 which means even if you choose to skip holidays for a campaign, GMass will send emails on that day.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"adding-a-custom-holi-abow\">Adding a custom holiday<\/h3>\n<p>You can add any holiday (or any other day where you don\u2019t want to send emails) using the <strong>Add a custom holiday<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/p>\n<p>Type in the name of the holiday, then select the date in the calendar field. Once it\u2019s entered, click the <strong>Add this holiday<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image6-4.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-3\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image6-4.png\" alt=\"Add a custom holiday\" width=\"1999\" height=\"1184\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>That holiday will now appear under the <strong>Custom Holidays<\/strong>\u00a0header.<\/p>\n<p>Notice in this case, there is not an Observed toggle. By default, we assume you\u2019re observing all your custom holidays and won\u2019t send messages on those dates.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image5-4.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-4\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image5-4.png\" alt=\"Your list of custom holidays are observed by default\" width=\"1999\" height=\"1184\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Click the <strong>Delete<\/strong>\u00a0link next to a holiday if you no longer want to include it in your skips list.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"adding-suggested-hol-vkad\">Adding suggested holidays<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019ve preloaded a few years\u2019 worth of U.S. holidays where people are commonly off work into this dashboard.<\/p>\n<p>You can add some or all of those holidays by clicking the <strong>View suggested holidays<\/strong>\u00a0link. Then check the boxes next to the holidays you want to add, and click <strong>Add these holidays<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Those holidays will now appear in your Custom Holidays list.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image2-5.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-5\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image2-5.png\" alt=\"You can add suggested holidays\" width=\"1999\" height=\"1289\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Like custom holidays you add, GMass will consider these holidays observed by default. If you don\u2019t want GMass to skip sending on one of those days, you\u2019ll need to hit the <strong id=\"using-the-skip-holid-squy\">Delete<\/strong>\u00a0link to remove it from your list.<\/p>\n<h2>Using the \u201cSkip Holidays\u201d Feature in a Campaign<\/h2>\n<p>Now that you\u2019ve set up some holidays, you can choose whether or not to skip them in each campaign you create.<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re working on a campaign, open up the <strong>GMass settings box<\/strong>\u00a0in the Gmail compose window.<\/p>\n<p>Go to the <strong>Schedule<\/strong>\u00a0settings. When you launch a campaign using the API, you can choose whether or not to skip holidays.
