GMass is\u00a0now available as an official Gmail Add-on<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>This\u00a0extends the functionality of GMass to Android devices (iPhone coming soon),<\/strong>\u00a0and adds some important new features.<\/p>\n

How is this GMass Add-on\u00a0different from the GMass Chrome extension?<\/h3>\n

First, let’s be clear on what\u00a0is meant by a\u00a0“Gmail Add-on”<\/strong>\u00a0and how that differs from the GMass Chrome extension<\/a>, which is what users have been using on the desktop.<\/p>\n

Gmail Add-ons<\/a> are\u00a0a new way to enhance Gmail, bringing functionality into your Gmail experience wherever you log in. They are attached to your Gmail account and the code that runs them lives at Google. They are created by third party companies, but must be thoroughly reviewed by the Gmail team at Google for inclusion\u00a0into the Gmail Add-on Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chrome extensions<\/a>, on the other hand, have similar features, but are associated with your Chrome installation on each desktop machine. The code that runs them lives on each device along with that installation of the Chrome browser.<\/p>\n

It’s important to be clear that you can–and should–have\u00a0both<\/em>\u00a0the <\/strong>GMass Chrome extension<\/a> and the <\/strong>GMass Gmail Add-on<\/a> installed at the same time<\/strong>; it’s not one or the other. By having both, you get the\u00a0best experience\u00a0with GMass, on both desktop and mobile.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The benefits of the Add-on<\/h3>\n

First, the GMass Add-on<\/a> greatly enhances portability<\/strong>. Unlike with the Chrome extension which only works on desktops, with\u00a0the GMass Add-on, as soon as you install it it’s immediately available on\u00a0all devices with which you login to Gmail<\/em>.<\/p>\n

So, for example, you can be logged into your Gmail account on your home desktop computer, install the Add-on…and now you will be able to use the functionality on your computer at your office, your laptop computer–and\u00a0<\/em>your Android device!<\/strong>\u00a0 It will even be available from the computer at the public library or a friend’s house.<\/p>\n

Note: The GMass Add-ons is not currently available for iOS devices, but will be as soon as Google adds support for it.<\/em><\/p>\n

The GMass Gmail Add-on also brings an entirely new feature to Gmail: a recipient’s campaign history window and unsubscribe\/bounce status<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How to install it (it’s easy!)<\/h3>\n

It’s easy to install this Add-on. For experienced users, you can just follow this link<\/a> and the typical steps.<\/strong>\u00a0But for more detailed instructions in four easy steps, see the bottom of this post.<\/p>\n

Where the GMass Add-on is found\u00a0in your Gmail screen: Desktop vs.\u00a0Android<\/h3>\n

The GMass for Gmail Add-on is found at a different location depending on whether you are using Gmail on a computer<\/strong> vs. an Android mobile device.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On a computer, it’s to the right<\/span> of your Gmail window,<\/strong> as shown here and outlined (for this tutorial) in red:<\/p>\n

New Features: inline campaign histories and unsubscribe\/bounce lists<\/h3>\n

One\u00a0new feature that’s only available with this Add-On is that any time you open an email in your Gmail account, you can see\u00a0a campaign history\u00a0<\/strong>that includes\u00a0the last\u00a0five campaigns sent to that person.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For example, let’s open on an email sent to me from my imaginary customer, Jack Lovich. The email will open as usual, but now click the grey (inactivated) GMass symbol button:<\/p>\n

Scrolling down to the bottom reveals two more options: LAUNCH MAIL MERGE<\/strong> and HELP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Using those green check marks, the GMass Add-on will also show you whether that person is on your\u00a0unsubscribe or<\/span>\u00a0bounce list<\/strong>. If they are, you can remove them–if they’re not, you can add them.<\/p>\n

In this case, this person is shown “Not unsubscribed”. If you click UNSUBSCRIBE THIS PERSON<\/strong>, it will immediately unsubscribe them.<\/p>\n

Don’t worry, if you want, you can restore them right away:\u00a0<\/strong>after unsubscribing, the screen will change as shown below, and you can click RESUBSCRIBE THIS PERSON<\/strong> to restore the person’s subscription.<\/p>\n

  1. Visit this link<\/a><\/strong> and click the <\/strong>blue\u00a0“INSTALL” button<\/strong>, shown below.\n

Gmail will then launch a small pop-up window asking for your permission to install this (or any) Add-on<\/strong>, so click Continue at that point.<\/strong> It will then ask you to choose which Gmail account to associate this Add-on with. Choose the Gmail account you want.<\/strong> [Note: You can have the same Gmail Add-ons installed to different Gmail accounts; you just have to install them one at a time.<\/em>]<\/li>\n
  3. Gmail will then ask\u00a0again\u00a0<\/em>for your permission<\/strong>, specifically allowing this Add-on\u00a0to be able to access your Gmail account. That window looks like this:\n
