And you may not be sure which of those options is correct for your situation.<\/p>\n<p>One important note before we start: Sometimes users are <em>confused<\/em> because they&#8217;ve cancelled a campaign, but the auto follow-ups\u00a0for that campaign <em>still\u00a0send<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>That is because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/how-to-cancel-a-scheduled-mail-merge-campaign-and-stop-it-from-sending\/\">canceling a campaign<\/a> does\u00a0not also cancel\u00a0the auto follow-ups for emails <em>already sent<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0For example, if you&#8217;ve scheduled a campaign to send 1,000 emails at 200 emails\/day, and the campaign has auto follow-up emails set, and after 2 days, the campaign is canceled, that means only 400 emails have been sent, and now the remaining 600 won&#8217;t receive the email. Here&#8217;s why.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When you <strong>cancel a campaign and its auto follow-ups<\/strong>, everything stops\u00a0<em>and<\/em> the campaign draft is deleted from your account. That&#8217;s a permanent deletion.<\/li>\n<li>When you <strong>cancel a campaign but not its auto follow-ups<\/strong>, the draft will remain in your Gmail account in case you want to tweak the auto follow-ups.<\/li>\n<li>There <i>are <\/i>ways just to cancel auto follow-ups but leave the original campaign. We&#8217;ll cover that in this section as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Canceling a campaign and its auto follow-ups from the GMass dashboard<\/h3>\n<p>Find the campaign in your dashboard by logging in at <a href=\"https:\/\/app.gmass.co\/dashboard\/index\">gmass.co\/dashboard<\/a>. There are two options you can use.<\/p>\n<p>One, you can click the\u00a0<strong>Clear auto follow-ups<\/strong> button at the top of the <strong>Auto Follow-up<\/strong> section. It still works, and there actually is a rare case where it might be your best option.<\/p>\n<p>You can cancel auto follow-ups for a campaign by composing a message in Gmail to the address\u00a0<strong>stopaf@gmass.co<\/strong> and putting the campaign ID in the subject line. Leave the email blank, then click the\u00a0<strong>GMass<\/strong> button. Because in that case, you won&#8217;t be able to make the necessary adjustments in the draft.<\/p>\n<p>If you can&#8217;t find the <strong>Draft<\/strong> under the <strong>GMass Auto Follow-ups<\/strong> Label or in your <strong>Drafts<\/strong> folder, <strong id=\"addaf\">then you may have accidentally deleted it<\/strong>. In that case, you can try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/can-now-restore-deleted-gmail-draft\/\">recovering the deleted Gmail Draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But if you don&#8217;t have time for the recovery and just want to stop the auto follow-ups ASAP, you can grab the campaign ID from your dashboard, then use the stopaf@gmass.co email to cancel the auto follow-ups but keep the original campaign running.<\/p>\n<h2>Adding Auto Follow-Ups After You&#8217;ve Sent a Campaign<\/h2>\n<p>You may not always create your auto follow-ups at the same time you create your campaign. And after you&#8217;ve started sending it, you realize you want to add one or more follow-up stages.<\/p>\n<p>You <strong><em>can<\/em> add those after the fact<\/strong> in GMass, though the approach varies depending on whether your campaign is in the\u00a0<em>process<\/em> of sending or whether it&#8217;s <em>done<\/em> sending.<\/p>\n<h3>Adding auto follow-ups <em>while<\/em> a campaign is sending<\/h3>\n<p>If you want to add more auto follow-up stages while a campaign is sending, it works similar to editing your auto follow-ups.<\/p>\n<p>Find your campaign in the Gmail Drafts folder. Open it up and go into the GMass settings. You <em>may<\/em> want to pause it. (I always like to pause.)<\/p>\n<p>Then add your new auto follow-up stages as desired.<\/p>\n<p>Hit the green\u00a0<strong>Save\u00a0<\/strong>button and those new follow-ups are now part of your campaign.<\/p>\n<h3>Adding auto follow-ups to a campaign <em>after<\/em> it&#8217;s done sending<\/h3>\n<p>By default, GMass keeps the draft of your campaign in the Gmail Drafts\u00a0<em>while<\/em> it&#8217;s sending, then\u00a0<strong>deletes<\/strong> the draft after the campaign is done sending. And once the draft is deleted, you can&#8217;t add auto follow-ups anymore.<\/p>\n<p>However, you can tell GMass in advance not to delete your drafts using a setting in the GMass dashboard.<\/p>\n<p>In the dashboard, go to Settings &gt; Auto Follow-ups. And check the box next to\u00a0<strong>Allow adding follow-ups after campaign is sent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-13\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24170\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"2004\" height=\"1430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified.png 2004w, https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified-300x214.png 300w, https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified-1024x731.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified-768x548.png 768w, https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified-1536x1096.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified-24x17.png 24w, https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified-36x26.png 36w, https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/addautofollow-dashboard-tinified-48x34.png 48w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2004px) 100vw, 2004px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve checked that box, <strong>your campaign drafts (for all of your campaigns) will not be deleted once the regular emails are done sending<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That enables you to <strong>add follow-ups at any point<\/strong>. Your campaigns will stay in the drafts folder indefinitely (unless you manually delete them).<\/p>\n<p>You can now add follow-ups to that campaign by opening a draft, going into the GMass settings, adding your new auto follow-ups, then clicking the green Save button.<\/p>\n<h4>What if I didn&#8217;t have the &#8220;allow adding follow-ups after campaign is sent&#8221; setting checked in advance?<\/h4>\n<p>So what if you want to add follow-ups to a campaign that finished sending&#8230; but you\u00a0<em>didn&#8217;t<\/em> have the &#8220;Allow adding follow-ups after a campaign is sent&#8221; checkbox selected in your dashboard?<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, you can&#8217;t send auto follow-ups for that campaign now because your draft is deleted \u2014 at least not in the &#8220;traditional&#8221; sense.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GMass still gives you an option to, essentially, mimic the behavior of auto follow-ups using a new campaign.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check out our documentation on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/features\/segmented-campaigns\">segmented campaigns<\/a>. Those are new campaigns you send based on user behavior.<\/p>\n<p>So, for example, instead of sending an auto follow-up to everyone who didn&#8217;t reply, you&#8217;d send a new campaign to everyone who didn&#8217;t reply. And with GMass, you can even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmass.co\/blog\/send-as-replies-examples\/\">send that new segmented campaign as replies<\/a> to your previous campaign. In other words: it will basically be indistinguishable from auto follow-ups to your recipients.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"review\">Pausing, Editing, Adding, and Canceling Auto Follow-Ups: Review<\/h2>\n<p>So, to review&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>To\u00a0<strong>PAUSE<\/strong> a campaign and its auto follow-ups, you can&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Press pause on the campaign in the GMass dashboard<\/li>\n<li>Hit the yellow pause button in the GMass settings for the campaign draft<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To\u00a0<strong>EDIT<\/strong> a campaign&#8217;s auto follow-ups&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s best to pause the campaign in the GMass settings for the draft, then edit the auto follow-ups<\/li>\n<li>Hit the green save button in the GMass settings for the campaign draft<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To\u00a0<strong>ADD<\/strong> follow-ups to a campaign that&#8217;s sending&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s best to pause the campaign in the GMass settings for the draft, then add the follow-ups<\/li>\n<li>Hit the green save button in the GMass settings for the campaign draft<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To\u00a0<strong>ADD<\/strong> follow-ups to a campaign that&#8217;s\u00a0<em>finished<\/em> sending&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prepare in advance by going to the GMass dashboard and, in the Auto Follow-ups area of the settings, checking the box to allow adding follow-ups after a campaign is sent<\/li>\n<li>Open the draft of your campaign that finished sending, open the GMass settings, and add auto follow-ups<\/li>\n<li>Hit the green save button in the GMass settings<\/li>\n<li>(Note: If you didn&#8217;t have the &#8220;allow auto follow-ups after a campaign is sent&#8221; option selected, you can still use a segmented campaign)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To\u00a0<strong>CANCEL<\/strong> a campaign and its auto follow-ups, you can&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Press the X cancel button in the GMass dashboard<\/li>\n<li>Hit the red cancel button in the GMass settings for the campaign draft<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To\u00a0<strong>CANCEL just auto follow-ups<\/strong> but keep a campaign running, you can&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hit the clear all auto follow-ups button in the GMass settings for the campaign draft<\/li>\n<li>Manually uncheck the boxes next to each stage of your auto follow-ups<\/li>\n<li>Or send a message to stopaf@gmass.co with the campaign ID as the subject line<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To\u00a0<strong>CANCEL all auto follow-ups for your account<\/strong>, you can&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Send a message to stopaf@gmass.co with the word all as the subject line<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GMass&#8217;s auto follow-up feature is extremely popular and powerful \u2014 but sometimes, you may find yourself needing to pause, edit, add, or cancel those automated messages.
